WEST HAVEN, Conn. - After entering the regional and national polls last week, the University of New Haven football team has jumped up in each poll this week after a 13-0 victory over American International College. The Charger moved up one spot to fourth in this week's ECAC Lambert Meadowlands Division II Football Poll, while also catching some more eyes with nine votes in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II Coaches' Poll for week eight.
This season is the first time the team has been listed in the two polls since it returned to the gridiron in 2009. The Chargers, winners of four straight, currently stand at 4-1 in the NE-10 and hold the top position in the standings.
This week, New Haven hosts Merrimack College for its 2010 Homecoming game at DellaCamera Stadium. Game time on Saturday is set for 1 p.m. Merrimack is currently the only other one-loss team in the conference.
