LANTANA, Fla. - The University of New Haven baseball team won its sixth-straight game Tuesday morning in a 2-0 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas College at the Palm Beach Challenge. With the win the Chargers improve to 8-2 on the season, while the Spartans fall to 2-9.

Behind the solid pitching of  Vince Lehman, all the Chargers would need was a pair of runs in the seventh inning. Shane O'Connell opened the inning with a pinch-hit walk. Frank Peloso then hit a sacrifice bunt and advanced Peloso to second base. Tom Rombilus connected for a double, which scored O'Connell. After Rombilus stole third base, Ryan Brockett hit a sacrifice fly and put the Chargers up 2-0.

Lehman led the Chargers in the shutout with seven complete innings pitched. He added five strikeouts and just one walk. Eric Peck pitched the eighth inning and collected two strikeouts, while Mitch Rossi earned his fourth save of the season in the final inning. Rossi added two more strikeouts to the Chargers' total on the day.

The Chargers return to action tomorrow when they take on Molloy College at Lynn University. The first pitch is scheduled for 10 a.m. in Florida.
