WEST HAVEN, Conn. - The University of New Haven baseball student-athlete,
Mitch Rossi (Bristol, Conn./Bristol Central), earned Div. II honorable mention All-America as a relief pitcher by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
Earlier this season, Rossi was named to the First Team on the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings NCAA Division II East All-Region Team, the Daktronics Division II All-East Region Team, along with the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association All-East Region Team. Rossi served as the closing pitcher for the Charger baseball team this season. Additionally, the Bristol, Conn. native earned a spot on the Northeast-10 Conference First Team. Rossi was also named the University of New Haven Male Athlete of the Year.
Rossi's 11 saves is the most saves in the Northeast-10 Conference and tied for fifth in Division II. The junior holds the UNH records for saves in a career (24) and season (11). Rossi has made 19 appearances this season and holds a 3-1 record. He's also pitched 32 1/3 innings this season.
