Keidy Candelaria (Vega Baja, Puerto Rico/Bayamon Military Academy) has been named the 2011 Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year, while senior
Chelsey Alpough (Torrance, Calif./South / Western New Mexico Univ. ) was named the Northeast-10 Conference Setter of the Year for the third consecutive season. Both were joined by
Amber Cannady (Yonkers, N.Y./Charles E. Gorton) on the All-Conference teams, while
Kaulana Ane (Paia, Hawai'i/Kamehameha) received All-Rookie Team honors.
Candelaria helped lead the Chargers to their fourth-straight Northeast-10 Conference regular season title by leading the team with 4.44 kills and 2.93 digs per set. She posted a .250 hitting percentage and 32 service aces. She led the conference with 440 total kills, while adding 290 total digs in 99 sets played. Candelaria was also named to the 2011 Northeast-10 All-Conference First Team.
Alpough, was also instrumental in New Haven's regular season title as she handed out 899 assists averaging 9.88 per set. She also recorded 183 digs, and was third on the team with a .207 hitting percentage. Alpough grabbed 22 aces this year also. She was also named to the 2011 Northeast-10 All-Conference First Team for the second consecutive year.
Cannady, named to the Northeast-10 All-Conference Third Team, ranked second in the Northeast-10 Conference with 1.17 blocks per set this season. She is also boasting a .240 hitting percentage with 207 kills and 85 errors on 508 attempts. She added seven aces and 12 digs this season as well. This is Cannady's first postseason honor of her career.
Freshman, Ane was named to the Northeast-10 Conference All-Rookie Team for her contributions as a freshman. She recorded 1.08 kills, 1.69 assists and 2.40 digs per set this season. The Paia, Hawaii native totaled 105 kills, 164 assists and 233 digs so far this season.
