Thomas Wins Long Jump, 200-Meter at Giegengack

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The University of New Haven men's indoor track and field team took part in the opening day of the Giegengack Invitational at Yale University Friday night. Sprinter David Thomas (Taneytown, Md./Frostburg State) led the team with a pair of victories, while Kevin Downing (Meriden, Conn./Orville H. Platt), Winston Reid (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon) and Matt Jeune (West Haven, Conn./Notre Dame - West Haven) all recorded top numbers as well.

Thomas won the long jump with a distance of 7.21 meters and took first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.14. Downing finished in seventh place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.66, while Reid added eighth place. Jeune took second in the high jump with a height of 6-foot-8.

The Chargers return to action on Saturday, February 4 at day two of the Giegengack Invitational.
