WEST HAVEN, Conn. - The University of New Haven football team announced its complete 2012 schedule today. The 10-game slate features the first ever Northeast-10 Conference Championship weekend and four home games throughout the season. The season will officially kickoff on Saturday, September 1 when the Chargers host Merrimack College in a NE-10 showdown at Ralph F. DellaCamera Stadium.

The season-opener is followed by the team's only non-conference game of the season at Saint Augustine's College in Raleigh, N.C. The conference schedule continues in week three with a trip to Pleasantville, N.Y. to face the Pace University Setters.

On the fourth Saturday of September, Saint Anselm College travels to West Haven for a 1 p.m. kickoff at DellaCamera Stadium. In week five, the Chargers have a bye week on Saturday, September 29, 2012.

New Haven's third home game of the season is against Assumption College on Saturday, October 6. The 1 p.m. kickoff at DellaCamera Stadium will officially kickoff the month of October at UNH as well.

The Northeast-10 Conference schedule continues for the Chargers on Saturday, October 13 at Bentley University and on Thursday, October 18 at Stonehill College. The Chargers and Falcons will kickoff at 1 p.m. in Waltham, Mass., while UNH travels to Easton, Mass. for a night game against the Skyhawks in week seven of the schedule.

Homecoming 2012 will likely be the game of the year at DellaCamera Stadium as the Chargers host on cross-town rival Southern Connecticut State University. The game will kickoff at 1 p.m. in West Haven. The final schedule game of the season is an NE-10 game at American International College at 1 p.m. as well.

For the first time in conference history, the final weekend of the regular season will showcase a NE-10 Championship weekend. The top seeded team will host the second seed in a true championship game format. The remaining teams will also play games in the final weekend of the regular season. The third, fourth and fifth seeded teams will host the sixth, seventh and eighth seeded teams, respectively.
