Michael Flacco (Audobon, N.J./Gateway Regional / The Community College of Baltimore County - Catonsville) of the University of New Haven football team was named to the Beyond Sports Network (BSN) Division II All-America Third Team as announced by the organization on Thursday. Teammate
Mike DeCaro (Weston, Fla./Cypress Bay ) was also named an Honorable Mention All-America as a return specialist.
Also an All-Region Second Team and Northeast-10 Conference All-Rookie Team honoree, Flacco claimed Third Team laurels at tight end in his first season with the Chargers. The sophomore led the Chargers with 591 receiving yards and nine touchdown catches while making 30 grabs overall.
DeCaro, previously an All-Region Second Team and All-Northeast-10 Conference First Team selection, ranked fifth in NCAA Division II and second in the Northeast-10 Conference in all-purpose yards with nearly 210 yards per game. He returned a kickoff 78 yards for a touchdown against LIU Post and took a punt 71 yards to the house against Bentley. The only player in the NE-10 to score a touchdown four different ways this season, DeCaro ranked 46th in Division II and fourth in the conference in scoring.
New Haven finished the 2013 season with a record of 8-3 overall and in third place in the Northeast-10 at 7-2. The season marked the first time in program history the Chargers went four-straight years with eight-or-more wins.
